I loved this book, I got it for my daughters so they can know a little back history of their culture! Its really cute and teaches you some cute words, I just wish they had it where it pronounced the words so you know exactly how to say it, because me and my daughter were just guessing how to say the words and Im sure we were pronouncing them wrong! Other than that, adorable book!
I wish there were more Tagalog children's books for toddlers (actually, I'd love Cebuano or Visayan ones) on Amazon. Given the choices, this purchase turned out pretty good. The quality of the text and illustrations are nice and definitely good enough for my 20-month-old. He brings me the book, signaling that he is to sit down on my lap so that I can read it to him. I'm happy with it.
We highly not happy with this book. We brought to help my daughter learn more he father native language. Most of it is in English with one word in Tagalog. Most words aren’t revolute to what she needs to know for basic. Also it doesn’t say what the word means.
This is a great book to introduce some common Tagalog words like lola (grandma) & kumot (blanket) as well as some Filipino culture, like J for Jeepney & Q for Quezon. It does not purport to be the definitive Tagalog teaching book so it's funny to me that some people are giving this a bad rating as if they were expecting an encyclopedia. It's a children's book with Filipino characters, words & phrases- nothing more or less. The pictures are bright and colorful, as well.
Bought the book for a baby so she can learn about her Filipino heritage. It had common phrases and Dad enjoyed receiving this as a gift.
My 4 year-old granddaughter (Filipnio dad/Caucasian mom), loves to read and this book is part of her Christmas present this year. Like I said it's a starter book - very simple and I think it'll be fun for a youngster to read (of course, with the help of lola). The writers should have used more imagination and pertinent words, "ewan" really? Also, the English rhymes and verses should have Tagalog translation.
My wife and I love to read to our daughter and help her learn both English and Tagalog. This book helps us accomplish both. Simplistic yes, but effective.
The title of this book is misleading. I thought that this would be a good beginner book of the Tagalog language for my daughter but this book just gives you 1 word for each alphabet. A couple of the words are English and just written in "tagalog". If you are expecting a book that points out hand, eyes, please, thank you, etc. then don't get this book.
