Though misleadingly advertised as the 3rd edition of 2012 (the image displayed here is the cover of that edition, for example), the text of the Kindle edition is in fact the 2nd edition of 1994. The 2012 edition is a major revision with additional chapters on the rather significant military events that have transpired since the early post-Cold War period. Extremely disappointing that Amazon has not only not updated the Kindle content but is advertising what it is selling as if it were the current version.
I LOVE the ability to buy the book and the matching audio. This textbook seems to be a standard, used at American Public University and the Air Force Academy, and others. It does have quite a lot of information, organized pretty well, and the narration is well done too.
This book is the same as published several years ago. There was no new material added or revisions done that I could determine. The publication date is even several years old. It is a good book and I highly recommend it to someone who hasn't read the material or wants a nice introduction. But, if you read it within the last 15 years, it hasn't changed.
thought this book did a good job of documenting america's military history from 17th century to late 20th; if you are interested in this subject matter, i recommend very highly but it is a long book & if you do not have interest in this subject matter, forget it; i think he did a good job of documenting the history but in a light manner; i agree with a lot of his opinions
A good reference book if you are interested in Military History.
Excellent text am going to use it for a military history class, is a fast read and gives excellent historical insight into the wars that America has fought.Would recommend to a casual reader for American Military History or for someone who is interested in a more serious dierection and can used the references to further their study.
