About the Author
Christopher P. Baker was born and raised in Yorkshire, England. He received a BA in geography from University College, London, and masters degrees in Latin American studies from Liverpool University and in education from the Institute of Education, London University. He began his writing career in 1978 as a contributing editor on Latin America for Land & Liberty, a London-based political journal. In 1980, he received a Scripps-Howard Foundation Scholarship in Journalism to attend the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1983, Christopher-the 2008 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year-has made his living as a professional travel writer, photographer, lecturer, and tour guide. He specializes in Cuba, about which he has written six books. He has contributed to more than 150 publications worldwide, including CNN Travel, National Geographic Traveler, Robb Report, and The Los Angeles Times. Christopher has been profiled in USA Today, appears frequently on radio and television talk shows and as a guest-lecturer aboard cruise ships, and has spoken at the National Press Club, World Affairs Council, and on National Geographic Live. He is a National Geographic Resident Expert and conducts tours of Cuba, Colombia, and Costa Rica and Panama for National Geographic Expeditions, among other leading tour companies. He also leads his own motorcycle tours of Cuba for U.S. citizens (www.cubamotorcycletours.com). His many other books include Moon Costa Rica, Mi Moto Fidel: Motorcycling Through Castro's Cuba, and Cuba Classics: A Celebration of Vintage American Automobiles.

Cuba is changing so quickly it's hard for travel guides to keep pace. Moon's guide to Havana was our most precious possession for a week in Havana. The maps were so much better than the laminated city map I purchased. Like all trips, I used whatever space I could find inside my Moon for notes and references. Would recommend without hesitation and heaps of praise. Thank you Moon and Christopher Baker. We have a fantastic trip.
Going to Cuba in a few weeks. Awesome info and all the podcasts I listened to plugged this book. It was the most updated version I could find.

Poorly organized.Difficult prose.Wish I bought the other choice.
Really difficult to use as a walking guide. Maps scattered throughout book doesn't reference the text so you're scrambling to look for the place among the several maps scattered through the book. Also, this looks like a printing mistake but the maps reference more in-depth maps but these are not labeled and you're left flipping through the maps figuring out which is which. Some places or on the map, others aren't but you only know that after spending time combing through various maps looking for the name of the establishment. Difficult to follow and needs a better system of organizing the maps and map-within-maps and referencing places onto maps. I wasn't surprised that this is a first edition. Lots of kinks for Christopher Baker and editors at Moon to work out. Have used Moon in the past. This is a disappointment. Ended up referencing my friend's lonely planet during our trip because it's better organized.
