Lisa Davis’ new book Clean Eating and Dirty Sex is well-researched, well-written, informative, humorous, and filled with great recipes. The title is a clever play on words. It is not about dirty sex, but rather, how eating a healthy diet is key to living a healthy lifestyle and how it can ultimately lead to a better sex life with your partner. There is no doubt that the author draws from a vast wealth of research (based on talking to many experts in the field including health and medical professionals), and personal experience in what constitutes a healthy diet and how it impacts our basic physiology. One of the best parts of this book is the author’s uncanny ability to engage the reader. She talks about her own personal experiences- which are often very funny- and how her ideas about living a healthy lifestyle evolved over time. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the fundamentals of why it is important to eat healthy (in a society saturated by SAD foods) and discovering fun and interesting ways to achieve it.
I was lucky to get an advanced copy of "Clean Eating Dirty Sex." First of all, this book is NOT about dirty sex. It is a book that helps you change your lifestyle so you can be healthy in every aspect of your life. There is a focus on how making these important lifestyle changes will improve your sexual health but you will benefit from this book even if you are celibate! My favorite part of the book are the memoir sections. Lisa opens up and shares her difficult experiences with humor and heart. I also love the recipes! They are so delicious! I highly recommend you tell all of your friends and family about this book. It is life changing!!

The memoir sections allow the reader to get to know Lisa and how she overcame her struggle with “dirty†eating and issues with sex/love addiction through stories that are both full of humor and heart. The healthy living information is weaved throughout the book with tips and science- based advice from over 40 top experts in the field of psychology, nutrition, fitness, medicine, sexology, and more. The cookbook has over 40 delicious recipes and every recipe has a gorgeous photo. I made a few of the recipes and they were delicious and easy to make. There is an emphasis in the book on one’s sexual health but the crux of the book is how to be healthier overall. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to make positive lifestyle changes that will lead to a healthier, happier life and even a sexier YOU.

I heard the author being interviewed on by Pete Dominick show Stand Up with Pete on SiriusXM. When I heard the title, I wasn't sure what to expect! I was immediately taken with the way Lisa talked about the book, especially when she mentioned that there is a part on unhealed trauma. I also liked the way Lisa expressed herself on the show and when she said it was part memoir, I really wanted to read it. Lisa shares some really hard times she went through in her childhood and teen years that set the stage for some of the challenges in her life. I could really relate and her humor and heart made the stories so relatable. She also interviews a bunch of experts in the field of medicine, nutrition, fitness, psychology, and more and their advice is weaved throughout the book. There are both hurdles to a better sex life ( hormonal issues, poor communication, stress...) and ways to overcome those hurdles (better communication, quality time together, food/fitness). Even if you are celibate, this book is for you. At its core it is a book that helps you live a healthier life. Did I mention there is also a chapter on natural skincare and it's also a cookbook, with over 50 recipes!. I am excited to jump into those. I highly recommend Clean Eating, Dirty Sex.
I usually don't "get into" improvement/health books, but since I bought a signed copy from the author, whom I've known for years, thought I'd take a quick peek before going to bed; big mistake, I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! I love how the book is easy to read, very insightful and funny! The colored pictures are beautiful; which is always a "must" for recipes. Can't wait to get cooking. (Wink, wink."
